We recognise that communities are built by people. We want to help create communities where people are proud to live and make them more cohesive and sustainable.
COMMUNITY FUND

We know that one of the best ways to have a positive impact in our communities is to work with community partners that are already close to the key needs and are doing great work. Through the Westfield ERF Community Fund, we were proud to support organisations dedicated to tackling local challenges and making a meaningful difference. While the fund is no longer accepting applications, we remain committed to supporting communities and working with local partners in other ways.
COMMUNITY LIAISON GROUP

Westfield Community Liaison Group consists of representatives of the four Community Councils in the vicinity of the Westfield site which are Kinglassie, Portmoak, Benarty, and Cardenden Community Councils. Providing an update on activity at Westfield provides an opportunity for each Community Council Representative to pass on the update at subsequent Community Council Meetings. The CLG is also attended by representatives of both Fife Council and Perth and Kinross Council. The Westfield site sits within the boundary of Fife Council but the access road to the motorway network passes through Perth and Kinross which is why it is important for us to have representation from both Local Authorities.
At the meeting, updates on activity on site are given by Hargreaves Land Limited as owner of the Westfield site and Brockwell Energy who are responsible for the development and construction of the energy recovery facility and solar farm at Westfield. The meeting provides for questions to be asked of representatives of Hargreaves and Brockwell so that answers can be fed back in to the surrounding communities.
COMMUNITY GRIEVANCE MECHANISM

Given the comprehensive assessments and the detailed mitigation and management measures put in place as a result, we sincerely hope that members of the local community will never be motivated to raise a grievance. However, if such unfortunate circumstances do arise, it is important to WERL that grievances related to the Westfield ERF can be easily and transparently raised without concern. To this end, the ‘contact us’ form in this website has an option to ‘Raise a Grievance’ and when this is selected the message is sent to Brockwell Energy Services (acting on behalf of WERL), Hargreaves (the landlord) and HZI (the construction and operations contractor) – anonymity is an option.
